Chi Running with Catherina Mckiernan

14 December, 2009

Catherina Mckiernan will conduct a ChiRunning workshop on the Saturday before Bay Run 10. The one day workshops start at 10am and finish at 4.30 pm and costs 110 euro for adults and 65 euro for teenagers. Class sizes will be for 10 to 12 people and she will video-tape everyone at the start to see their style of running. Then you go inside and go through the ChiRunning form focuses through a series of drills and exercises.

This takes about 2 hours and then everyone goes outside for an easy relaxed run where she will talk to the group through one focus at a time, so as people can get the feel of good mechanics in their body. We stop and start during the run and she will keep the group together, so as no one feels under pressure.

Then we have lunch and after lunch we analyse the video-tape and Catherina will pick out what people may need to change to help make their running more efficient and injury free. We cover a few more aspects of the ChiRunning technique, and have a questions and answers session and she will show the group some body loosening exercises to do before running. Catherina will check everyones cadence and give guidelines on diet, training and recovery. We finish off the day with an easy run and this gives people an opportunity to practice under her watchful eye. It is a most enjoyable and informative day.
