The organisers of Bay Run ‘12 would like to take this opportunity to wish you every success on the day. Please read the following information carefully.
General Information
The official start time for the Bay Run ’12 on 6th May 2012 is
12.00 a.m. for runners
11.00 a.m. for walkers
Race Numbers, Timing Chip and Tote Bag pick-up
Race numbers, Timing Chip and Tote bag can be collected at the Maritime Hotel in Wolfe Tone Square in Bantry (near the finish line) on Saturday 5th of May between 6.30pm and 8.30pm or else Sunday morning 6th May in the marquee at the start line in Glengarriff.
Race Number and Timing Chip
· Your timing chip is attached to your race number.
· Please do not crumple up your race number, this will damage your timing tags & could effect your getting a result.
· Your timing chip is attached to your race number.
· It will not be collected at the finish line.
· Please do not remove the foam on the tags.
· Always wear your race number on the front.
· Do not wear your number under clothing.
· Pins will be provided for you to attach the number to your vest.
· If you do not have a race number you will not be allowed to take part in the event.
Bus Times
· All buses depart Bantry for Glengarriff between 9.30 and 11.00 sharp.
· The buses will be parked in The Square, Bantry and be easily visible close to finish line.
· To facilitate an on time departure, we would ask that all walkers are there at 9.30 a.m., there are STRICTLY no buses after 11.00 a.m.
· You will be arriving by bus in Glengarriff no later than 11.30 a.m. where you can collect your timing chip/race number, and tote bag from the marquee at the start line if not already done the previous night.
Baggage Transfer
You will have approximately 20 minutes to place your belongings in your numbered bag. Your bag should then be placed on the baggage bus for transfer to the finish line in Bantry. Your bag will be available to you in the marquee at the finish line in Bantry.
Road Safety
· All competitors must run / walk on the LEFT HAND SIDE of the road at all times.
· Parts of the course will be closed to traffic for your safety.
· Approximately 11 miles of the course will take place on the N71, the main Bantry to Glengarriff road. Please take note of the road safety markers on the day, they are there for your safety. We would ask all participants to follow the directions given by race marshals and stewards, identifiable by the high visibility tops they will be wearing.
Facilities
· Toilet facilities are available at the start, 6 mile marker and the finish.
· Water and aid stations are situated at 3, 6, 9, 11 mile markers and the finish line.
· In the event of an emergency contact any of the stewards, marshals or Red Cross representatives on the course who will immediately notify one of the medics.
· The route will be clearly marked by mile markers and safety markers.
· There are no parking spaces available in Glengarriff on the morning of the Bay Run 12, we would therefore ask you to take full advantage of the bus transfers service from Bantry to the start line in Glengarriff. There will be heavy traffic restrictions throughout the morning. There are parking facilities close to the finish line and transfer point in Bantry.
Race Finish
· There will be a technical t-shirt and medal for each participant along with refreshments at the finish. There will be free massage facilities available at the finish line to soothe aching muscles, please follow the directions.
· The ceremony for prize winners will take place at the marquee at the finish line. All other prizes will be posted out after the event.
· For those returning to Glengarriff, buses will depart from the finish line in Bantry at 13.30, 14.00 and 14.30.
· The “Bay Run Blister Bash” will take place in the Maritime Hotel on the Sunday night in association with REDFM.
